Two people arrested and drugs seized

Two people were arrested and a quantity of drugs was seized in Downtown Fredericton as part of an ongoing drug investigation.

Shortly after 11:00 p.m. on January 7, 2021, members of the Drugs & Organized Crime and Street Crime Units conducted a traffic stop on Westmorland Street, on a vehicle that did not initially stop for police. A 45-year-old man and a 41-year-old female, both from Fredericton were arrested at the scene and later released. 

Police seized a quantity of what is believed to be methamphetamine, as well as other drugs, some of which had been thrown from the vehicle, and were later located by the K-9 Team.

The man and woman face charges of drug possession and possession of property obtained by crime, and the woman faces additional charges of flight and driving while suspended. They will both appear in court later in February 2021.

The investigation is ongoing.
