Two people arrested; one charged with drug and weapons offenses

On March 24, 2021, members of the Drugs and Organized Crime Unit conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of 105 and Brookside, knowing the male driver, Joshua Raines, was arrestable for multiple warrants.

Raines was arrested without incident, and following his arrest, the vehicle was searched and multiple drugs, weapons, and a loaded prohibited firearm were seized. Raines was charged with the following and has a bail hearing scheduled for March 29, 2021, at 11:00 AM:

  • S.5 (2) CDSA Sch.1 Hydromorphone 
  • S.5 (2) CDSA Sch.1 Fentanyl 
  • S.5 (2) CDSA Sch.IV Diazempam
  • S.351 (1)(a) C.C. Possession of Break-In In 
  • S.117.01 (1) C.C. Possession Contrary to Order 
  • S.86 (1) C.C. Careless Use of a Firearm 
  • S.88 (1) C.C. Possession of a weapon for a Dangerous Purpose 
  • S.90 (2)(a) C.C. Carry a Concealed Weapon 
  • S.95 (1) (a) C.C. Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition

A male passenger was also arrested and charged with possession of a schedule 1 substance, he was released with a court date in May. The Drugs and Organized Crime Unit would like to thank the Street Crime Unit and members of patrols for their assistance.
