UPDATE: Second man charged in homicide investigation

A 36-year old man has now also been charged in connection with the May 2, 2020 death of Justin Leigh Finnemore. This afternoon, Kevin Mark Sexton of Oromocto, N.B. appeared in court and was charged with second degree murder. Additional charges are possible.

Mr. Sexton will appear in court again on July 24, 2020 at 10:00 a.m.


Two people have been arrested in connection with a homicide in the city earlier this year.

A 47-year old Fredericton, N.B. man, and a 36-year old man from Oromocto, N.B. were both arrested without incident in relation to the death of 29-year old Justin Leigh Finnemore.

Shortly after 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2020, police were called to the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital where Mr. Finnemore had succumbed to his injuries after being shot.

This morning, 47-year old Timothy Robert Dunphy appeared in court and was charged with the second-degree murder of Justin Finnemore. He will appear in court again on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at 10:00 a.m.

Charges for the second man are anticipated and additional arrests are possible.

The Fredericton Police wish to thank the public for their assistance, as well as their patience in recent weeks while officers conducted their investigation, which remains ongoing.
