Weekend Road Closures

Weekend Road Closures

Fredericton Police Force (FPF), along with our policing partners, will be monitoring a rally and activities organized by Worldwide Freedom Fighters, scheduled to take place on the grounds of the Fredericton Legislative Assembly on February 18th, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

On Saturday, February 18, the public can anticipate road closures from 10:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. on  Queen Street, from the Cenotaph to St. John Street. This will include Church Street and Secretary Lane, between King Street and Queen Street.

The Fredericton Police Force fully supports the right to hold a peaceful demonstration, but it must be done so in a lawful and safe manner. FPF officers will be in attendance and their priority remains protecting public safety and providing a safe, secure, and lawful environment.

It should be noted that criminal acts will not be tolerated.

Activities not permitted on the grounds of the legislative assembly include erecting structures such as a tent or temporary shelter/encampment. Items not permitted on the grounds of the legislative assembly include incendiary liquids or devices, barbecues, propane tanks, generators.

As with any protest, our role is to maintain order and keep the peace. Our response is assessed and adjusted as the individual situation dictates.

We will keep the public updated through our social media channels as needed as the event unfolds.
