IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT PARKING

2026 Parking Rate Increases

This message is to advise you that City Council has adopted new monthly and hourly parking rates for 2026. The new rates will apply to hourly parking meters and two City-owned lots.

The hourly parking rate increases, including HST, are as follows:

1- hour Meter: from $2.00/hr to $2.50/hr
2-hour Meter: from $2.00/hr to $2.50/hr
Tannery Lot: from $2.00/hr to $2.50/hr
Officers' Square Lot: from $2.00/hr to $2.50/hr

These new rates will take effect July 1, 2026.

The City of Fredericton manages over 500 on-street parking spaces and operates a number of parking facilities, providing hourly parking, as well as daily, monthly, and annual permits.

Every day, we work to ensure that convenient parking choices are available to people going to work, play, and partaking in all that downtown Fredericton has to offer – ensuring regular turnover of parking spaces, maintaining the efficient flow of traffic, and regular enforcement.

Our Parking By-law officers can be seen walking throughout the downtown in clearly marked uniforms, and are happy to assist the public with anything they can as ambassadors of Parking.

How can I dispute my parking ticket?

Disputing your ticket is only possible for a limited number of reasons (i.e., if the ticket that was issued in error, if you paid for parking but were ticket, or if you have valid parking for a certain area and received a ticket, etc.). If you are looking to dispute a ticket that was issued for any other reason, you will receive a summons in the mail with your court date, and you can dispute your ticket in court (fines will continue to increase but may be waived at judge’s discretion). If you believe you have been ticketed in error, please e-mail a copy of your parking ticket and receipt to parking@fredericton.ca, or visit us at the Service Center (397 Queen Street Fredericton NB). If you paid through the HotSpot app, please note that you will need to contact them directly (either through the app itself, by e-mail at support@htsp.ca, or by phone 1-855-712-5888). All disputes must be made within 72 hours after the ticket was issued.

How can I pay my parking ticket?

You can pay your parking ticket online through HotSpot here. This service is available until a judge of the provincial court deems the defendant guilty. You can also pay at the Service Center (397 Queen Street Fredericton NB), or over the phone at (506-460-2020). You can also pay through mail with a certified check or money order (made out to the City of Fredericton), or by using our secure deposit box at the back of City Hall.

The parking meter/kiosk that I’m at isn’t working properly.

If you pay at a parking meter that does not register, or if the meter/kiosk does not appear to be working properly, please contact us immediately with your name, phone number, and license plate number at parking@fredericton.ca, or by phone at 506-460-2020. If this happens, we do recommend checking for any signage that might indicate that parking is not available in the area at that time, or parking at another location; however, if you are ticketed for a faulty meter, we will reference the information that you provided if you need to dispute your ticket. Note that all tickets related to meter issues must be disputed within 24 hours of issued ticket.

What is HotSpot Parking?

HotSpot is a parking app that can be used to park in designated parking spaces in the City of Fredericton and can be downloaded through your mobile phone here. It can also be used to buy monthly parking passes, as well as bus tickets and monthly passes. If you have any issue with the HotSpot App, questions about a ticket that you received, or for any other reason, please contact

them directly through the HotSpot app, by e-mail at support@htsp.ca, or by phone at 1-855-712-5888. For more information about HotSpot, please visit their website.

How can I get a Parking Permit?

All of our parking permits are now managed by HotSpot Parking. Please note that you can purchase these through the HotSpot Parking App, or by contacting them at support@htsp.ca, or by phone at 1-855-712-5888. Please note that parking permits are available on a first come first serve basis and become available for purchase 5 calendar days before the 1st of each month.

How can I get a parking exemption?

How do I report a parking violation or ongoing issue related to parking?

If possible, please contact us with detailed information about the situation (location, time of day, vehicle make/model, description of the issue). We will forward the information to our parking enforcement team to look into the issue further. If the issue is ongoing, please provide a timeline of how long the violation or issue has been occurring. This information can be sent to parking@fredericton.ca, or you can contact us by phone at 506-460-2020.

We understand that getting a parking ticket can be frustrating, and we will do our best to help walk you through the payment and dispute process as needed.
