As part of the Electric Vehicle Strategy, the City of Fredericton is installing charging stations on City-owned property to promote the widespread adoption of electric vehicles (EV). These charging stations are part of NB Power’s eCharge Network and the FLO Network.
Installing and operating EV charging stations is one of many initiatives the City of Fredericton is undertaking to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.
Charging your EV at a City of Fredericton Level 2 charging station (7.2 kW) costs $1.50 per hour, pro-rated per minute.
You can charge your EV for a maximum of 4 hours. To ensure turnover, cars exceeding the time limit will be ticketed.
Locate the charging station on the map above or on the eCharge or FLO apps. Select the station you wish to charge at.
Park in the appropriate parking spot assigned to the charging station.
Activate the station by holding your eCharge Network or FLO card in front of the scanner or choose the station on your app and select “Start a Session”.
Follow the additional instructions on the screen or on the app. Authentication should unlock the charger.
Plug the connector into your vehicle and start charging.
Pay for parking at the parking payment station, if applicable.
Keep an eye on the app, so you can move your vehicle when it’s fully charged or after the maximum allotted 4 hours have passed.
When charging is complete, return the connector to the charging station and ensure cables are properly stored.
If you are having trouble using a charging station, call the toll-free number written on the station or inform a parking attendant, if there is one. If the charging station displays a red light, it is out of service.
You can pay for charging with a physical NB Power eCharge Card or via the free eCharge Network or FLO mobile apps. You must pre-load credits to your account before paying with a mobile app or physical card. Charging stations do not accept debit or credit cards.
