In (Zones A, B and C (George Street and Charlotte Street, from Smythe to University, and the side streets between), on-street parking is not allowed, except with a valid virtual annual resident or daily permit, during the hours of 1:30pm to 3:00pm Monday to Friday, as indicated by signage.
- Parking is allowed in Zones A, B, and C at no charge outside of that restricted time.
- The overnight parking restriction is still in effect.
- 2hr free maximum parking will remain adjacent to where the Lincoln Trail crosses George Street and Charlotte Street, where indicated by signage, to continue to provide recreational trail access.
In Zone Q (Beaverbrook Street, between McLeod and University Avenues, and Church Street along the east of Queen’s Sq. Park, between McLeod Avenue and Aberdeen Street, on-street parking is not allowed, except with a valid daily permit, during the hours of 10:00am to 11:00am and 1:30pm to 2:30pm, Monday to Friday, as indicated by signage.
- Parking is allowed in Zone Q at no charge only outside of the restricted times.
- The overnight parking restriction is still in effect.
The timed parking restrictions and permit zones are clearly posted on each block via signage.
Annual Resident Parking Permits and Daily Parking Permits are not available outside of the on-street permit parking zones.
Most downtown streets outside of the on-street permit parking zones (between Charlotte St. and Dundonald St.) offer sections of 2-hour maximum free parking. In those areas, where indicated by signage, vehicles can park on-street between 8:00am and 5:00pm, Mon-Fri, free of charge for a maximum of 2 hours. The vehicle must be moved after 2 hours, and this is monitored by by-law enforcement officers.
This program is one of many sustainable parking initiatives implemented as part of the City's Parking Master Plan. Feedback and lessons from this program will be incorporated into future parking plans and projects.
