Station tours are intended for pre-school and school-aged children (4 years and older) and community groups. Visitors will tour the station; view the fire trucks, equipment, and gear; and learn about fire prevention and fire safety.
Scheduled tours take place on Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Requests for evening tours are considered on a case-by-case basis.
One station tour will be scheduled per week.
The maximum number of visitors for each tour is 25 persons, including adults.
To ensure adequate supervision and safety, an appropriate adult/child ratio must be maintained throughout the visit:
Important information about fire station tours:
-
Tours are approximately 30-45 minutes long.
-
Visitors are not permitted to handle equipment or climb on any fire vehicle unless approved and supervised by Fire Department personnel.
-
Tours must be scheduled at least 2 weeks in advance, and no more than 2 months prior to the event date. Once a request is confirmed, the requestor will receive an e-mail from the Fire Department Administration confirming the visit.
-
If the tour group must cancel or reschedule, the Fire Department Administration must be notified at least 24 hours in advance.
-
Transportation for the group (if applicable) must remain onsite. A tour could end early if firefighters are called to an emergency.
-
Fire station tours are meant to be educational in nature. The facilities are not offered for parties or events.
All Fire Stations are operational facilities, and firefighters may be called to an emergency at any time.
If this happens, a tour may be cancelled, and visitors may be asked to vacate the fire station or vacate the area around the fire truck(s) responding to a call.
It may also be possible that firefighters were called to an emergency prior to a scheduled tour and, therefore, it may be cancelled. The Fire Department will endeavour to reschedule the tour as soon as possible.
To rebook a fire station tour, requestors can e-mail fire.admin@fredericton.ca or call Service Fredericton at 506-460-2020
