The Fredericton Police continue to coordinate with municipal police agencies, the RCMP, and the Department of Justice and Public Safety to ensure public safety at the ongoing protest in Downtown Fredericton.

While we respect the right to peacefully protest, the police’s priority remains protecting public safety and reducing the risk to key infrastructure. Our goal is to ensure that the impact on residents and businesses is minimized.

There are officers at entrances to the City, ensuring that large truck traffic can continue to make deliveries to businesses with a valid manifest.

A considerable number of people have gathered in the protest area, and the public should expect traffic delays in that area over the weekend. Officers are making every effort to reduce the impact of those delays. Those that impede, or block traffic are subject to significant fines, as well as seizure and forfeiture of their vehicle, under the Mandatory Order.

At this time, there have been no arrests for Criminal Code violations made in connection with the ongoing protest. Three Motor Vehicle Act tickets have been issued to date. One truck did attempt to enter the protest area with presumed implements for the event and was directed back out of the area.

We are asking the public, and anyone traveling into Fredericton over the coming days, to respect all parking bylaws, including the overnight parking ban. The Noise Bylaw is available should incessant and disturbing noise come from the protesters, especially in the overnight hours. This is out of respect for those that live close to the site.
