
On March 4th, 2025, the Fredericton Police Force’ (FPF’s) Integrated Enforcement Unit (IEU) conducted a successful operation in the 100 block of King St. in Fredericton’s downtown, resulting in multiple arrests and the seizure of a quantity of drugs.
Officers moved in and conducted a takedown of the vehicle, arresting five adult men.
Of the occupants, Joel Douglas Perley, age 48, of Fredericton, was charged with the following:
• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Sch. I: Fentanyl) - S. 5(2) CDSA
• Possession of Proceeds of Crime Under $5000 - S. 355(b)(ii) C.C
Perley was held in custody.
Three other men are facing drug-related charges, and one individual was released with no charges. The three will appear in court at a later date to answer to the charges.
During the arrest, officers found a total of 18.63 grams of fentanyl, quantities of a cocaine and methamphetamine, three digital scales, and $1600 in cash.
Since September 2024, the FPF and its IEU have seized a total of 32.37 grams of fentanyl, 429.13 grams of methamphetamine, and significant quantities of cocaine. The total value of these seizures, including $1,600 in cash found during this arrest, amounted to $152,240. These efforts have significantly contributed to removing dangerous drugs from the community.
The IEU teams are made up of members from the RCMP, New Brunswick’s nine municipal police forces, and peace officers with the Province’s Department of Justice and Public Safety. These units focus on disrupting violence, the use of firearms, and the trafficking of illegal drugs across the province.
