On Nov. 28, 2024, the Fredericton Police Force (FPF) responded to a weapons call at Fredericton High School (FHS). The school administration was notified of the situation and promptly called 911 at 2:25 p.m. Several officers were immediately dispatched to the scene, with the first officer arriving at 2:27 p.m. and additional officers arriving within the next few minutes.

Upon arrival, the officers quickly secured the scene and apprehended a 14-year-old male at 2:35 p.m. A BB gun was seized during the incident. The individual was taken into custody without incident and faces the following charges:

•    Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose (Section 88(2)(a) CCC)
•    Carrying a Concealed Weapon (Section 90(2)(a) CCC)

The youth was released on conditions and will appear in youth court at a later date. We are relieved to report that no injuries were reported and there was no active threat at that time. Police remained on scene to investigate.

We would like to thank FHS school staff for their quick and cooperative actions, which greatly assisted police in their response.

The FPF would like to remind the community of the importance of reporting any suspicious activity immediately. Ensuring the safety of our schools and community is a shared responsibility. Remember, if you see something, say something.
