Loaded firearm, drugs seized in high-risk arrest by Fredericton Police

On April 8, 2025, at approximately 10:05 PM, members of the Fredericton Police Force located a stolen vehicle while responding to a separate call for service on Brunswick St. The vehicle was occupied by two youths, who were unlawfully at large, and an adult male, age 42, of Fredericton.

When officers approached the vehicle to make an arrest, the driver attempted to flee by ramming three marked police vehicles, causing minor damage to all units. Officers safely arrested all three occupants and seized a loaded modified .22 caliber firearm from under the driver’s seat. No one was injured. 

The individuals have been charged with the following offences:  

Youth 1 (Driver):
•    Assault Peace Officer with a Weapon (s. 270.01(1)(a) CC)
•    Possession of Stolen Property (s. 355(a) CC)
•    Flight from Police (s. 320.17 CC)
•    Careless Use of Firearm (s. 86(1) CC)
•    Unauthorized Possession of Firearm (s. 91(1) CC)
•    Possession of Firearm Knowing Unauthorized (s. 92(1)(3) CC)
•    Unauthorized Possession of Prohibited Firearm in Motor Vehicle (s. 94(1) CC)
•    Possession of Loaded Prohibited Firearm (s. 95(1) CC)
•    Possession Contrary to Order (s. 117.01(1) CC)
•    Fail to Comply with Youth Probation Order (s. 137 YCJA)

Youth 2 (Passenger):
•    Breach of Release Order (s. 145(5)(a) CC)

Both youth remain in custody, while the adult male was released and faces drug charges at a future court date.
