In the early morning hours of Tuesday, November 19, 2024, Fredericton Police Force (FPF) responded report of a hostage situation on Canada Street.
Several FPF teams were deployed to the scene, including Emergency Response and Crisis Negotiation teams, Forensic Identification, Major Crime, IEU, Street Crime and Drugs units, multiple patrol officers, and the RCMP Police Service Dog unit.
To ensure public and officer safety, a perimeter was immediately established around the location. After several hours, the operation concluded without incident resulting in the arrest of two males and one female. All five hostages were safely released.
Bradley Douglas Webb, age 36, of Fredericton, was charged with the following:
- Assault with a weapon S. 267(A) CCC
- Uttering threats S. 264.1(1)(A) CCC
- Forcible confinement S .279(2)(A) CCC
- Pointing a firearm S. 87 CCC
He was held in custody pending a court date of Dec. 4, 2024.
Another male, age 33, was arrested on outstanding warrants not related to the incident and was released on conditions.
The female, age 37, was also released from custody, without conditions.
