Two Fredericton men now face charges in connection to a call yesterday, December 2, after a member of the public reported hearing a gunshot on Fredericton’s Northside.
Police responded to a multi-unit residence in the 100-block of Main Street shortly after 10:00 am, and quickly contained the area. Two adult males, both from Fredericton, were arrested without incident a short time later. There were no injuries, and streets were reopened by 10:40 a.m.
Following the execution of a search warrant on the residence, 20-year-old Owen John Jonas Watt faces the following charges:
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon
- Possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition
- Unsafe storage contrary to regulations
- Possession of weapons contrary to order
- Breach of probation
18-year-old Rye Thomas Ethan Watt also faces charges, including:
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon
- Possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition
- Unsafe storage contrary to regulations
- Breach of probation
Additional charges are expected. Both Owen Watt and Rye Watt have been held in custody and will return to court again Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at 10:30 a.m.
