Multiple Charges Laid in Shooting Incident

At approximately 4:25 a.m., on Friday, October 5, 2018, the Fredericton Police responded to a call regarding a shooting incident at a home on the city’s Northside. Police located a 47-year old male victim, who was suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries. He remains in hospital in stable condition.

A short time later a 56-year old male suspect was arrested, without incident, on an adjacent property. The victim and the suspect are known to one another.

On Saturday, October 6th, 2018, Eldon Wayne McCoy of Fredericton, N.B. was remanded in Provincial Court on one charge of Pointing a Firearm, in relation to Friday’s incident. This morning, McCoy was further charged with Aggravated Assault, Discharging a Firearm with Intent, Pointing a Firearm, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Uttering Threats (2), and Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm.

The investigation is ongoing.
