One arrested in connection with stolen vehicle, weapons and drug trafficking

On June 10, 2024, members of the Fredericton Police Force’s Street Crime unit, observed a vehicle which had been reported stolen in a parking lot on Hanwell Rd. 
With the support of the patrol division, officers intercepted the vehicle and arrested Malcolm Peterson, age 49, of Fredericton. 

The operation led to the seizure of items including drugs (fentanyl, methamphetamine) valued at approximately $5000, scales, a .22 caliber firearm, other weapons, and a 2019 Red Dodge Caravan approximate valued at $20,000.00.

Peterson has been charged with multiple offenses, including:

•    Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000 S. 355(a)(i) CC
•    Possession of Methamphetamine For Purpose of Trafficking S. 5(2) CDSA
•    Possession of Fentanyl for Purpose of Trafficking S. 5(2) CDSA
•    Careless Storage of Firearm S. 86(1)(3)(a) CC
•    Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose S. 88(2)(a) CC
•    Unauthorized Possession of Firearm S. 91(3)(a) CC
•    Unauthorized Possession of Firearm in a Motor Vehicle S. 94(2)(a) CC
•    Tampering with Serial Number S. 108(1)(a) CC
•    Fail to Comply with Order S. 79(1) POPA

Peterson was held in custody pending a future court date.
