Police arrest Fredericton man after Carleton Street arson fire

Fredericton (N.B.) - Fredericton Police have arrested a 28-year-old man after a fire broke out at a historic building in the city’s downtown earlier this month. 

Cole Christopher Harris, of Fredericton, was arrested without incident on March 27, 2024.

Harris is charged with the following:

•    Arson with disregard for human life s.433(a)C.C.
•    Breach of Probation s.733.1(1)(a) C.C.

The fire broke out at 11 Carleton St., on March 12. Shortly after, police put a call out to the public on social media for help to identify a person of interest. Tips from the public were able to help police in the investigation of the fire. Footage captured on the City’s public safety cameras, as well as video captured by local downtown businesses, were also invaluable throughout the investigation. 
Fredericton Police would like to thank the public for their assistance and cooperation during the investigation.

Harris remains in custody until his next court appearance, which is scheduled for a future date.
