Police arrest one on trafficking charges, seize over $38K in drugs

During the course of a drug trafficking investigation, on Sept. 6, 2024, Fredericton Police Force’s Integrated Enforcement Unit (IEU), with support from patrols, arrested a 24 year-old male on the City’s northside and seized a large amount of cocaine, valued at approximately $38,400. 

Mohammad Abualhawa, of Fredericton, was charged with the following:

•    S. 5(2) - CDSA: Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine)
•    S. 355(b)(ii) - Criminal Code: Possession of Proceeds of Crime (under $5000)

Items Seized:

•    384 grams of cocaine
•    $300 Canadian currency

Abualhawa appeared before court and was released on conditions. He is set to appear again later this month.

The New Brunswick Integrated Enforcement Unit (IEU) is made up of members from municipal police forces, RCMP officers, and Justice and Public Safety officers in the province. These efforts aim to improve the coordinated response to the growing concerns of drugs, firearms, and organized crime within New Brunswick.
