On Dec. 16, 2023, members of the Fredericton Police Force (FPF) patrols responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint in the Islandview area of Fredericton.
Upon arrival, they located the vehicle in question, determined it to be stolen, subsequently blocked the vehicle and arrested two adult males.
Upon arrest, officers discovered various controlled substances with an estimated street value of around $26.000, and approximately $3000 in cash. FPF’s Drugs and Organized Crime Section were also called in to assist in the investigation.
The following suspected drugs were seized:
• Cocaine - 77.05 grams
• Fentanyl - 29.57 grams
• Methamphetamine - 29.01 grams
• Ice Pill (methamphetamine)- .50 tablet
• Xanax - 489.0 tablets
• Hydromorphone - 57.0 tablets
As a result, Maurice Chester Paul, 43, of Fredericton, was charged with the following criminal offences:
• Failing to comply with probation order.
• Possession for the purpose of trafficking.
• Possession of property obtained by crime.
• Possession of break and enter instruments.
• Breach of a firearm prohibition order.
Christopher Scott Phillips, 42 of Zealand, NB was charged with the following criminal offences:
• Failing to comply with probation order.
• Possession for the purpose of trafficking.
• Possession of property obtained by crime.
• Possession of break and enter instruments.
• Operating a conveyance while impaired.
Both accused remain in-custody and will return to court at a later time.
