Police Arrests Individual in Drug Trafficking Investigation, Seize $65,000 in Drugs

On Thursday, October 31, 2024, during the course of a drug trafficking investigation, members of the Fredericton Police Force’s Integrated Enforcement Unit (IEU) and Street Crime Unit, with support from patrols, arrested a 44-year-old male on the City’s northside and seized a large quantity of drugs valued at approximately $63,000.

Joseph Murphy, of Fredericton, has been charged with the following offenses:

•    Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Schedule I: Cocaine) - S. 5(2) CDSA
•    Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Schedule I: Methamphetamine) - S. 5(2) CDSA
•    Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Schedule I: Fentanyl) - S. 5(2) CDSA
•    Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Schedule I: Hydromorphone) - S. 5(2) CDSA
•    Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Schedule IV: Clonazepam) - S. 5(2) CDSA
•    Possession of Proceeds of Crime (over $5000) - S. 355(a)(i) CC
•    Unsafe Storage of Ammunition - S. 86(3)(a) CC
•    Possession (Ammunition) Contrary to Order - S. 117.01(3)(a) CC

The following items were seized during the investigation:

•    Fentanyl: 195.31 grams
•    Cocaine: 277.31 grams
•    Methamphetamine: 203.97 grams
•    Hydromorphoncotin: 11 tablets
•    Zopiclone 7.5mg: 10 tablets
•    Clonazepam: 111 tablets
•    Methadone: 27 tablets
•    Diazepam: 12 tablets
•    Methylphenidate: 8 tablets
•    Drug paraphernalia and ammunition

Murphy was held in custody and will appear in court later this month.
