Police investigating second report of cemetery vandalism

Fredericton (N.B.) - The Fredericton Police Force is investigating another instance of cemetery vandalism, after responding to a call at the Fredericton Rural Cemetery.

Approximately 16 headstones were damaged by either having been pushed over or spray painted. Our reports indicate that the vandalism appeared to have occurred on Oct. 5, 2023, sometime prior to 6:30p.m.

Police are also investigating another incident of vandalism in a cemetery, which occurred over the past two weekends, Sept. 22-24 & Sept. 29 - Oct. 1, 2023, at the Forest Hills Cemetery, where the headstones of veterans were defaced. It is unknown at this time if the crimes are connected, as they are still under investigation.
