With construction season well underway, we wanted to take this opportunity to once again remind you of the importance of traffic safety.

It is important to follow speed limits in construction zones. People are working diligently to get projects done, and speeds are posted for their safety and yours. And if that's not enough - fines are doubled in construction zones.

Unfortunately, not everyone is getting the message.

Last week, Fredericton Police issued 10 traffic violations for speeding through construction zones during a four-hour morning period. And sadly, this morning, a flagger was stuck by a vehicle and sustained serious injuries.

Please slow down. There are many people out working, biking and walking, occupying sidewalks and neighbourhood streets. Drive the speed limit, watch for pedestrians and please keep everyone's safety in mind.
