On Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at 7:00 p.m., the Fredericton Police Force responded to a call for service regarding an assault on a woman in the parking lot of a local establishment on Smythe Street.
Upon arrival, several officers quickly apprehended the male suspect. Our victim witness services are currently working closely with the victim.
The suspect, 30-year-old Cruiz Webb of Fredericton, was located nearby and subsequently arrested. He has been charged with the following offenses related to the June 26th incident:
• 266 (a) Indictable Assault
• 344 (1) Robbery
• 267 (c) Assault with a Weapon
While this incident was a random attack, Police do not believe there to be a larger threat to public safety due to this incident. The suspect is being held in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for July 2nd, at 9:30 a.m.
We would like to express our gratitude to the public for their assistance, the witnesses who came forward, and the local establishments for providing video evidence, which was instrumental in determining the sequence of events.
