Improvement & Innovation

Improvement & Innovation (I&I) at the City of Fredericton is a program intended to make the City’s municipal government more efficient and effective, creating improved services and savings for the city and its citizens.

For many years, the city has been working with a quality management system (QMS) that allows it to do the right things, at the right time, for the right customers, at the right cost. The system is supported by a quality document library, where policies, procedures and work instructions are available to staff.

The City of Fredericton now has another tool in its efficiency tool box—Lean Six Sigma. Lean Six Sigma is a methodology that helps eliminate waste, reduces rework and errors in processes. Staff have been trained to use Lean Six Sigma principles, and a variety of improvement projects have been completed are underway or are being considered.
