The Fredericton Police Force (FPF) conducted targeted traffic enforcement operations over the May long weekend in support of Canada Road Safety Week, held May 13–19, 2026.
Enforcement took place on May 15, 16 and 18, with checkpoints and patrols on Route 8 between Pepper Creek and Riverside Drive, Riverside Drive, Greenwood Drive, Killarney Road, Woodstock Road, the Trans-Canada Highway and the Vanier Highway in response to ongoing speeding concerns. Officers also conducted school zone enforcement in other areas of the city on Friday afternoon.
As a result of the enforcement efforts, officers issued 115 tickets, most related to speeding, Move Over law compliance, licensing and insurance, sobriety, and MVI requirements. Police also identified two suspended drivers, one uninsured driver and conducted multiple approved screening device (ASD) tests, while engaging with the public at checkpoints.
Police remind motorists to slow down and obey posted speed limits, move over for emergency vehicles when safe to do so, ensure their vehicle is properly inspected and insured, and never drive while impaired. Members of the public are encouraged to report dangerous driving by calling FPF’s non-emergency line at 506-460-2300, or 911 in emergencies.
The Fredericton Police Force remains committed to keeping our community safe through proactive traffic enforcement and education and will continue these efforts throughout the year. We thank the public for their cooperation and patience in supporting road safety across Fredericton.
