Flushing occurs during daylight hours, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Water flushing may produce discoloured (turbid) water, and residents should check for clear running water from their taps before doing laundry or preparing food. The effect is temporary and should clear up quickly.

Water main flushing removes loose sediment and mineral deposits from the water distribution system. It is a cost-effective preventative maintenance measure, and part of the process to ensure continued high-quality drinking water in Fredericton. It also helps identify areas of the water distribution system that might need repairs and upgrades.
