The City of Fredericton’s annual water main flushing program begins in Spring 2026.
Water flushing may produce discoloured (turbid) water, and residents should check for clear running water from their taps before doing laundry or preparing food. Water main flushing removes loose sediment and mineral deposits from the water distribution system. It is a cost-effective preventative maintenance measure and part of the process to ensure continued high-quality drinking water in Fredericton. It also helps identify areas of the water distribution system that might need repairs and upgrades.
