The City of Fredericton is building a safer, healthier, and more inclusive community for all, and we invite you join us by registering your existing security cameras with the Fredericton Police Force. Our Community Camera Registry Program is a voluntary and free service designed to support police investigations and enhance community safety through stronger partnerships and smart use of technology.
How it works:
By registering your cameras, you provide the police with a resource to quickly identify nearby cameras if a crime or incident occurs in your area. Police may then contact registered participants to request footage that could assist in solving crimes more efficiently. Participation does not grant police direct access to your cameras or live feeds, and sharing footage is always voluntary and with your consent.
Why participate?
Helps the police resolve crimes faster by quickly accessing potential video evidence
Supports crime prevention and public safety across neighborhoods
Strengthens partnerships between the police and the community
Respects your privacy, with all data securely hosted by a trusted third-party and managed under strict privacy laws
What you need to know:
You register basic information like camera locations, viewing directions, and retention times—not camera access or passwords
You decide if and when to share camera footage upon police request
The program is compliant with the Right to Information and Protection of Privacy Act (RTIPPA)
You can update or remove your registration at any time
