Arenas & Outdoor Rinks

The Grant-Harvey Centre is a fully accessible, state-of-the-art facility that features:

• 1,500-seat NHL-sized ice surface
• 560-seat fully accessible Olympic-sized ice surface
• 10 large dressing rooms
• Offices for officials and event organizers
• Indoor walking and running track
• Two community rooms
• One conference room
• Two fully licensed canteens operated by the Epsilon Y’s Men Club.

The complex is home ice for the St. Thomas University women’s hockey team, as well as the Fredericton High School men’s and women’s hockey teams.

This state-of-the-art facility is part of a community recreation hub, which also offers an artificial turf field, an indoor tennis facility, a dog park, and a dirt jump bike skill park for BMX and free-ride cyclists.

• 11 large dressing rooms
• Offices for officials and event organizers
• Indoor walking track
• Three rooms for community use
• Canteens operated by the Nashwaaksis Y's Men Club
• Seasonal youth centre and indoor skateboard park
• Fredericton's Celebration of Sport.

The complex was officially named Willie O'Ree Place in a public ceremony January 16, 2008 in honour of the former Frederictonian who became the first black person to play in the National Hockey League.

The Lady Beaverbrook Rink is equipped with:

• 80ft x 190ft ice surface with a seating capacity of 1,800 (mainly used for hockey, ringette, and figure skating)
• 6 dressing rooms
• Canteen service

The York Arena is equipped with:

• 80ft x 190ft ice surface with a seating capacity of 1,500 (mainly used for hockey, ringette, and public skates)
• Six dressing rooms
• Canteen service

The Officers' Square Skating Rink has lights and access to a heated shelter to keep visitors warm while lacing their skates. Rink attendants are available at peak hours to help people learn to skate and plastic skating aids are provided.

• No street footwear allowed on ice. Only skates are permitted.
• Be courteous – please respect others including City of Fredericton Staff.
• Ice is closed during maintenance.
• No pucks or sticks allowed on the ice.
• No jumping or ice tricks.
• Skate counterclockwise at a leisurely pace.
• It is recommended that users wear a CSA approved helmet.
• Do not carry children or babies while on the ice.
• Strollers, wheelchairs, and skate aids allowed. 
• No food or drink on the ice.
• Be safe. Dangerous behavior is not permitted.
• Pets are not permitted on the ice.
• Smoking, vaping, alcohol, and drugs are not permitted.

Anyone can enjoy skating at Officers' Square with FREE skate rentals. Skating aids are available to help you glide with confidence.

Skate Donations

We’re accepting skate donations to grow the program. Drop them off at the Recreation Office (371 Queen St, Suite 101) or bring them to Officers’ Square during the program's operating hours.
