Professional Standards is responsible for managing the process of complaints against officers and internal investigations. 

Municipal police agencies in New Brunswick must follow provisions laid out in the New Brunswick Police Act and submit to the guidelines and directives of New Brunswick Policing Standards.

As per the Police Act, the New Brunswick Police Commission is the independent oversight body and is responsible for management the process of public complaints against police officers, or the policies and services of municipal police agencies.
