The Vulnerable Person Registry is a voluntary program which allows citizens to record vital information pertaining to vulnerable family members or other persons in their care or a Vulnerable Person themselves.
This information will be used by police officers and other support personnel in order to best assist the person, in the event of an incident or interaction.
A Vulnerable Person is defined as a person who due to a medical, mental health or physical condition (diagnosed or undiagnosed), may exhibit patterns of behaviour that could increase risk of harm to themselves or others.
Examples where a vulnerable person or their caretaker may consider registering:
Alzheimer’s disease Autism Spectrum Disorder Acquired Brain Injury Individuals who have a tendency to wander Individuals who have difficulty with verbal communication Individuals with fascination/attractions (drawn to water, construction sites, roadways, etc). Individuals who may respond to social situations with fear, aggression or running away.
Annual registration is required to keep your form active.
It is the responsibility of the applicant to re-submit the form on a yearly basis with any required updates. It is recommended that you re-submit on the registrant’s birthday to make it easier to remember.
Please include a color photograph of the vulnerable person with every registration. All registrations will be confirmed by a member of the Fredericton Police Force.
