Anyone—child, youth, adult or senior—taking part in sports programs using the City of Fredericton’s indoor ice and sports fields, or for those registering for municipal day camps and outdoor swim lessons, must sign up for a Rec Card. Users do not need a Rec Card for drop-in activities such as public skating, use of walking tracks and City parks and playgrounds, or for programs at the Fredericton Indoor Pool. Rec Card numbers must be provided to sport groups at time of registration.
Before signing up for a Rec Card, users must determine whether they are within the catchment boundaries. Users within the City of Fredericton and catchment areas pay a fee within their property tax to use City of Fredericton facilities. The City of Fredericton currently has Recreation Service Agreements in place with the Village of New Maryland, Rural Community of Hanwell, and portions of several Local Service Districts, including Douglas, Estey’s Bridge, Maugerville, Noonan, New Maryland, Ludford Subdivision and St. Mary’s. See the Recreation Service Agreement Areas Map for details; limits to the area covered are identified by civic address. Enter your civic address into the ‘User Search box’ on the left. Select your address from the list. The map will center on your property and will show you whether you are in or out of the participating areas (shaded on the map). Use the zoom buttons in the app (+/-) to see where your home is.
For users within catchment boundaries a Rec Card is free. After signing up, staff will verify that the address given is within the boundaries and issue a Rec Card to the user’s Amilia account.
Users outside boundaries, are still welcome to participate, but will need to pay a fee before a Rec Card can be issued. As of April 1, 2018 the following fees apply:
• Ice Sports - $773.00 (plus HST)
• Field Sports - $17.00 (plus HST)
• Outdoor Pool Swim Lessons - $11.00 (plus HST)
• Northside Youth Centre Camps -$17 (plus HST)
Please note that fees must be paid by outside users prior to registration for minor and adult sport groups or leagues. For outdoor pool swim lessons, user fees must be paid at the time of registration.
