Social Inclusion Committee

As a central pillar of the City’s commitment to the UNESCO Coalition of Inclusive Municipalities, the Social Inclusion Committee (SIC) was established in December 2022 to operate as an advisory committee to City Council on matters of inclusion, diversity, equity, and human rights. The formation of the SIC represents a significant step in the City’s path toward becoming a truly inclusive community where everyone feels valued, where diversity is celebrated, and where differences are seen as a strength.

Mission Statement: The SIC's mission is to promote social inclusion and equity by identifying and addressing barriers, promoting inclusive practices, fostering respect and understanding, and creating opportunities for meaningful engagement and participation between all members of our community and the City of Fredericton.

Vision Statement: We strive to create a community where everyone feels valued, respected, and included, and where all members have equitable access to opportunities, resources, and services. We aim to establish a culture of belonging and understanding, celebrating diversity as a strength.
