Off-Leash Dog Trails

Off-leash dog trails provide an opportunity for dogs to exercise and socialize while enjoying Fredericton’s trail network. To ensure these shared spaces remain safe, respectful, and accessible for everyone, off-leash use is permitted at Killarney Lake Park from May 1 to November 30 (inclusive) on designated trails only. Outside of this period, dogs must be leashed at all times and in all areas of the park. Off-leash trails remain open to other users, including people walking, jogging, and bicycling

By following these rules, you help maintain a safe, welcoming environment for all trail users.

  • Off-leash use is allowed only within the identified off-leash dog area. Dogs must be leashed when entering and exiting the area and in all other parts of the park.
  • Dogs must remain under the effective control of their handler and within view at all times. Handlers must carry a leash at all times. Children under 12 must be supervised by an adult within the off-leash area.
  • A maximum of two dogs per handler is permitted. Aggressive dogs must be removed immediately. Dangerous dogs and female dogs in heat are prohibited.
  • All dogs must wear a collar with valid identification and dog tags, and be registered with the City in accordance with By-law No. S-11. Pinch or spiked collars are not permitted.
  • Handlers are responsible for cleaning up after their dog(s) at all times.
