Fredericton Police Force respond to weapons call on Gibson Street

On Monday, March 16, 2026, at approximately 12:00 p.m., the Fredericton Police Force responded to a report of an individual with a weapon entering a residence on Gibson Street. Members of the Patrol Response Team contained the area and ensured public safety.

Due to the possible presence of a firearm inside the residence and uncertainty as to whether additional occupants were inside, members of the Emergency Response Team (ERT), Police Dog Section (K 9), and Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) were deployed as part of the response, one individual was taken into custody without incident and a firearm was located and secured once the multi-unit building was searched. The operation concluded around 3:15 p.m.

Throughout the operation, police issued several public notices advising residents of the police presence in the area. At no time was public safety at risk as a result of police actions.
An 18-year-old man, Gage Degrace Whitlock, was taken into custody. He faces multiple firearms related charges, including careless use of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon and unauthorized possession of a firearm. 

A second individual, a 22-year-old Emma (Liam) Paul, was taken into custody. They face multiple drug and firearms related charges, including trafficking of a controlled substance, careless use of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

The Fredericton Police Force thanks residents for their ongoing support and cooperation while police conducted their work.
