Fredericton, N.B. - A recent investigation by the Fredericton Police Force’s Integrated Enforcement Unit (IEU) has resulted in the arrest of a Fredericton-area man and the seizure of significant quantities of illegal drugs, including cocaine, meth, and fentanyl.
On March 5, 2026, members of the Fredericton IEU arrested Shawn Patrick Simmonds, 50, in connection with drug trafficking activity in the greater Fredericton area.
As a result of the investigation, police seized the following items:
- Approx. 83 grams of cocaine
- Approx. 18 grams of methamphetamine
- Approx. 17 grams of fentanyl
- Approx. 120 hydromorphone and clonazepam tablets
- A digital scale
- A mug with a false bottom containing drugs
Simmonds has been charged with possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000 (CC) and six counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking (CDSA), including fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, hydromorphone and clonazepam.
Simmonds was remanded in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for March 23, 2026.
This investigation reflects the ongoing efforts of the Fredericton Police Force and the Fredericton IEU to disrupt drug trafficking and reduce the presence of illegal drugs within the community.
