Due to the ongoing Canada Post labour dispute, there may be delays in receiving October and November water bills. Timely payment remains required, even if a bill has not been received by mail.

How to Make a Water & Sewer Utility Payment
All payment options available on the City of Fredericton website are under the Service Centre.

Payment Options Include:
Online Payment via Service New Brunswick
- Payments may be made online through the Service New Brunswick website using a credit card, or by setting up the City of Fredericton Water and Sewer Utility as a payee through an online banking platform for pre-authorized payments.
The following information from the water bill is required:
- Account Number: The location number, which starts with a 7 and is six digits long.
- Customer Number: The customer number, which starts with a 1 or 2 and is six digits long.
- It is listed as "Water Fredericton" by most banks.
Pre-Authorized Payments
Residents can pay their City of Fredericton Water & Sewer Utility bill through pre-authorized withdrawals from their bank account. Payments are automatically withdrawn on the due date of the bill.
A Pre-Authorized Payment Application is available online, at the Service Centre.
Telephone / Internet Banking
- Payments can be made using a financial institution’s telephone or internet banking system. “Water Fredericton” is typically the listed payee. The six-digit location number (beginning with 7) must be used as the Account Number.
- Banking websites vary; residents should contact their branch if assistance is needed in locating this option.
In Person
- Payments may be made at the City Hall Service Centre, Monday to Friday, 8:15 am to 4:30 pm
- The Service Centre is located at the back entrance of City Hall.
- A cheque drop-off slot is available after hours.
- The Service Centre accepts cash, credit card (VISA, Mastercard, American Express in the account holder’s name), debit, money order, and personal cheque.
- Online payments should be made at least four (4) days before the bill’s due date to allow for processing.
At Financial Institutions
Payments may be made at any Bank of Nova Scotia (Scotiabank), even without an account, at no cost.
Other in-person options:
You can also make payments at Northside Pharmasave, located at 231 Canada Street. They accept cash, cheque, debit, and Visa or Mastercard (a 3.5% credit card surcharge applies).
Flexible Payment Options
- Payments can be made in any amount - weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.
- Previous billing statements can be referenced to determine the amount due.
- Paying the same amount as the previous bill may result in either a small balance owing or a credit on the next bill.

- To confirm the current outstanding balance, residents may email utilitybilling@fredericton.ca. Due to high call volumes, email communication is preferred. We do not process water bill payments over the phone.
