Eleven Cadets Graduate from Fredericton’s Satellite APA Police Science (Cadet) Program
Fredericton (NB) – The Fredericton Police Force (FPF), in partnership with the Atlantic Police Academy (APA), is proud to announce the graduation of eleven cadets from the city’s first local Police Science (Cadet) Program.
The 32-week pilot program included 20 weeks of classroom instruction—led by FPF officers, APA instructors, and community partners—followed by 12 weeks of on-the-job training with the Fredericton Police Force. Modeled on the APA program in Summerside, PEI, the Fredericton satellite campus allowed cadets to train and serve in their own community.
“Today marks a milestone for the Fredericton Police Force. For the first time, Atlantic Police Academy cadets trained within our service, learning not only in the classroom but side by side with our officers,” said Chief Gary Forward. “They embraced a culture of service and community that will guide them throughout their careers, and we are proud to welcome these 11 graduates into our policing family.”
Created to address staffing shortages and expand access to police training for Fredericton residents, the program was made possible by the support of Mayor and Council, City staff, and the dedicated leadership of FPF members.
“This graduation represents more than the completion of training—it represents a safer Fredericton, said Fredericton Mayor Kate Rogers. “These eleven cadets have shown exceptional dedication and a true commitment to service. Their success marks an important milestone for the Police Force and for our city, as we continue working together to build a safer, more supportive community for everyone. On behalf of Mayor and Council, I congratulate our new officers and thank them for their service to Fredericton.”
All graduates have been hired as probationary constables with the Fredericton Police Force. Each will complete a one-year probationary period in good standing and serve a minimum of two years with the city.

Congratulations to this graduating squad for their dedication, perseverance, and commitment to public service. We are confident they will make a meaningful difference in Fredericton and beyond.”
