The Fredericton Police Force and Fredericton Fire Department will face off once again in the annual Guns & Hoses Charity Hockey Game in support of Greener Village.

The popular event brings together Fredericton’s finest and bravest to raise funds and awareness for local food security initiatives.

The Guns & Hoses Charity Hockey Game is set for Saturday, Jan. 24 at 7 p.m. at the Grant Harvey Centre. The Fredericton Fire Department will be defending its title against the Fredericton Police Force, all to support Greener Village.

“Each year, the Guns & Hoses hockey game reminds us of the incredible strength of our community. Every donation directly supports the food programs that Greener Village relies on to help more than 2,200 families each month,” said Alex Boyd, Director of Greener Village. “We’re grateful to the organizers, players, and everyone who attends - with their time, enthusiasm, and generosity - to ensure that people facing food insecurity have access to the support they need to thrive.”

Admission is free, and spectators are encouraged to bring food or cash donation, if they’re able, to help local families in need.

The evening will feature department mascots Tracker and Sparky, door prizes donated by local businesses, a Chuck a Puck contest, a 50/50 draw, and a special intermission matchup featuring two U11 teams.

Last year’s event raised $12,649.44, adding to a growing tradition of generosity that has seen more than $26,000 raised since 2023. Organizers hope to surpass that milestone this year in support of Greener Village’s programs serving families across the Fredericton region.
