The Fredericton Police Force has charged former auxiliary volunteer Robert Hartlen, age 56 of Fredericton, with sexual assault and child pornography-related offences following an investigation initiated and led by its Special Crimes Unit.

“In our commitment to transparency and accountability, we take all allegations seriously and are committed to ensuring all individuals are held to the same standard under the law,” said Chief Gary Forward.

Hartlen was a volunteer member of the Fredericton Police Force Auxiliary from 2010 to 2015; the alleged offences did not occur during that time.

Hartlen is scheduled to appear in court on May 28, 2026.

As the matter is now before the courts, additional comments will be limited in order to protect the integrity of the investigation and the privacy of victims.
