Lincoln Road Phase 3

Project Type:Construction Projects
Project Subtype:Neighborhood Projects

The Lincoln Road Phase 3 project is a continuation of the 2023 Lincoln Road construction efforts. This phase will involve the installation of new water, sanitary, and storm pipes, along with raising the road elevation to help mitigate flooding. Additionally, the sidewalk will be reinstated to ensure safe pedestrian access. This project is a crucial step in improving infrastructure, reducing flood risks, and ensuring reliable utilities for residents.

What to Expect:

Traffic Impacts:

  • Lincoln Road from Vanier Industrial Drive to Wilsey Road will be closed to through traffic during construction.
  • Traffic will be detoured onto Vanier Industrial Drive and Wilsey Road, but local access will be maintained. See detour map.

Public Transit Impacts:

  • Bus stops within the closed section of the road will be removed.
  • Transit will be detoured onto Vanier Industrial Drive during the closure.

Pedestrian Access:

  • There will be localized impacts on pedestrian traffic, particularly in areas affected by the construction.

What is Being Accomplished?

  • New underground infrastructure (water, sanitary, and storm pipes) is being installed as part of the overall upgrade.
  • Raising the road will help mitigate flooding, allowing the road to remain open for longer during flood events.
  • Sidewalk reinstatement will ensure safer walking conditions for residents and pedestrians.

The Benefits:

  • Flood mitigation due to raised road elevation.
  • New underground infrastructure to ensure reliable services and reduce future maintenance costs.

Flood Protection:

By raising the road, this work will ensure that Lincoln Road stays open for a longer period during flood events, improving access and reducing disruptions.

Project Timing & Future Work:

Why is this project being undertaken now?

  • This project is part of a planned sequence of infrastructure upgrades. It follows the necessary upgrade work on Regent Street to connect the Storm Sewer system.

Will there be more construction in the future?

  • Yes, there are future projects planned for Lincoln Road as part of the city's ongoing infrastructure improvement efforts.

Project Funding

This project is partially funded through the DMAF program.

Are Any Trees Being Removed?

Yes, some trees will be removed to accommodate the road and utility upgrades.

How Does This Fit Into Long-Term Planning?

This project is part of the city's long-term infrastructure renewal plan, addressing aging infrastructure and helping to reduce the infrastructure deficit. By raising the road to mitigate flooding and renewing utilities, this work supports the city's goals for sustainable growth and long-term resilience.
