This is the first phase of a major infrastructure renewal project to implement the City’s Main Street Urban Design Plan that will completely transform the street into a more functional and pedestrian friendly gateway to the city’s northside business district and neighbourhoods.
What to expect:
- A phased closure of Main Street to through traffic from Hawkins to Seymour Street for the duration of construction. Detour details to come.
- Local access to homes and businesses along the street will be maintained during construction.
- Replacement of water, sanitary and storm sewer pipes in the area.
The benefits:
- Renewed piping will benefit the quality and reliability of water, sanitary and sewer services in the area.
- A renewed, more functional, pedestrian and cyclist friendly street and updated public realm.
