This Craftsman house, with its stucco exterior, is unique in the Fredericton residential architectural landscape. Mr. Frank VanWart, successful local merchant, entered the family grocery business as a young man and became proprietor upon the retirement of his father, William H. VanWart, in 1929. During the early 1940s, Frank VanWart closed the grocery store and opened a popular tobacco shop and news stand, located on Regent Street. The VanWart family resided here for more than two decades.
