City hours of operation for Canada Day 2026

The City of Fredericton is reminding residents of the following hours of operation for Canada Day on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.  

Canada Day celebrations will start at 12:00 p.m. downtown in the Historic Garrison District with live entertainment, family-friendly activities, and cultural programming. With Grand Theft Bus headlining and fireworks over the Wolastoq (Saint John River) at 10:40 p.m., enjoy this day of free family fun in New Brunswick’s capital city.   • City Hall and other administrative offices will be closed.  
  • Regular garbage and recycling collection will occur. Routine schedules may vary, and residents are asked to place containers curbside by 7 a.m. 
  • There will be no transit service on Wednesday, July 1. 
  • The Beek Court Municipal Soil Management Facility is open on Wednesday, July 1. 
  • The Visitor Information Centre at 494 Queen Street and Officers’ Square will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. 
  • The Fredericton Senior Centre will be closed.  
  • The Nashwaaksis Field House and the Northside Youth Centre will be closed. 
  • The Fredericton Indoor Pool will remain open during their usual operating hours. Extended public swim at the Fredericton Indoor Pool will take place from 2:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. 
    • Killarney Lake Beach Supervision, Marysville Outdoor Pool, Henry Park Outdoor Pool, Royal Road Outdoor Pool, and Queen Square Outdoor Pool are all open during regular operating hours.  
  • There are no public skates.  
  • Walking tracks are open from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.  
  • The Zig Zag and Afternoon Adventure Crew programs will not be operating.
