The Fredericton Police Force (FPF) is introducing its new Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU), a dedicated team of officers that will work to improve road safety and address traffic-related concerns across the community.

The unit will focus on traffic enforcement, collision investigations, targeted safety initiatives, public education and data-informed enforcement strategies designed to address emerging traffic concerns and reduce high-risk driving behaviours.

In addition to proactive traffic enforcement, members of the unit will support operational initiatives across the Fredericton Police Force and work closely with other units to advance community safety priorities.

“Traffic safety is one of the concerns we hear most often from our community, and residents rightly expect to feel safe on our roads and in our public spaces,” said Aaron Frizzell, Staff Sergeant, Patrol Operations.  “The Traffic Enforcement Unit strengthens our ability to respond to those concerns by focusing dedicated resources on high-risk driving behaviors.  Through targeted enforcement, education, and proactive engagement, our goal is to encourage safer driving, improve compliance, and ultimately make our roads safer for everyone.”

The TEU will take a data-informed approach to its work, using collision trends, enforcement results and community feedback to identify emerging concerns and focus resources where they are needed most. The unit will also lead public education and awareness campaigns on a range of traffic safety issues to help prevent collisions, encourage safer driving behaviours and support informed decision-making among road users.

Residents can report traffic-related concerns to the Fredericton Police Force at TEUtraffic@fredericton.ca.   This email is for information and traffic concerns only and is not monitored for reports of crime or requests requiring a police response.
