Steve Hicks is a life-long resident of Fredericton, devoting much of his 25-year professional career to helping others in the criminal and social justice field.
This is Hicks’ fifth term on Fredericton City Council and first as Mayor. He was first elected to Council in May 2008 and served as the ward councilor for Marysville for 18 years.
He served as Deputy Mayor for the City of Fredericton for three years and Chaired the Governance & Civic Engagement Committee. Steve also served as the City Council representative on the Joint Land Development Committee, tasked with preparing a Site Economic Vitality Plan for the Exhibition Grounds in Downtown Fredericton.
In his past roles, he was chair of the Negotiations Committee and the Community Services Committee. He was a member of the Killarney Lake Master Plan Advisory Committee, a Director on the Board for the Ville Cooperative, and a Board Member for the Fredericton Exhibition (FREX).
Mayor Hicks graduated from Fredericton High School, and then from St. Thomas University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Criminology & Psychology. He’s a former player and coach of the Fredericton Senior Royals Baseball Club. He lives in Marysville with his wife, Angela, and their two daughters.
