Over $100K in drugs seized during Fredericton Police targeted operation

On September 9, 2025, a targeted operation by the Fredericton Police Force’s Integrated Enforcement Unit (IEU), with support from patrol and the Emergency Response Team (ERT), led to the seizure of drugs with an estimated street value of more than $100,000, along with over $10,000 in cash and ammunition. Three individuals were arrested during the operation, including 26-year-old Ian “Keith” Edwards, who was remanded into custody.

This marks the second major targeted drug operation carried out by the Fredericton Police Force in recent weeks, reinforcing our commitment to ongoing enforcement and safer communities.

Search warrants were executed at a northside and a southside location in the city. Another 26-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman were also arrested and later released with future court dates. They are also facing a number of similar charges.

Items seized included:
•    Methamphetamine: over 1 kilogram 
•    Cocaine: approximately 220 grams 
•    Fentanyl: approximately 7 grams 
•    Over $10,000 in cash 
•    Various packaging materials, digital scales, cutting agents, and .22 caliber ammunition

As a result of the investigation, Edwards is facing the following charges: 
•    Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine) – S. 5(2), CDSA
•    Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Methamphetamine) – S. 5(2), CDSA
•    Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Fentanyl) – S. 5(2), CDSA
•    Possession of Proceeds of Crime – S. 355(a), Criminal Code
•    Driving while Prohibited – S. 320.18(1)(a), Criminal Code
•    Breach of Probation – S. 733.1(a), Criminal Code
•    Possession of Ammunition Contrary to Order – S. 117.01(3)(a), Criminal Code


“This seizure shows the impact of intelligence-led enforcement and the dedication of our Integrated Enforcement Unit in disrupting drug trafficking in Fredericton,” said Insp. David Cooper of the Fredericton Police Force. “Keeping dangerous substances—especially fentanyl and meth—off our streets is a significant step toward ensuring the safety of all residents.”

The IEU teams are made up of members from the RCMP, New Brunswick’s nine municipal police forces, and peace officers with the Province’s Department of Justice and Public Safety. These units focus on disrupting violence, the use of firearms, and the trafficking of illegal drugs across the province.
