Following a complaint submitted by the Fredericton Police Force, a former member of that agency has been charged following an independent criminal investigation carried out by the Miramichi Police Force.
Andrew Savoy, a former constable with the FPF, has been charged with perjury, uttering forged documents and breach of trust. Savoy was employed with the FPF from 2023 until his resignation in January 2026. All alleged charges took place during this period.
“The Fredericton Police Force is committed to transparency and accountability, and all individuals, current and past, are held to the same standard under the law,” said Chief Gary Forward. “We take all allegations involving our officers seriously and acted to ensure a thorough and independent investigation was completed” he said.
The matter stemmed from an internal audit of Mr. Savoy’s files in which inconsistencies were identified by the Fredericton Police Force. As a result, the FPF submitted a criminal complaint to the Miramichi Police Force and referred the matter to the New Brunswick Police Commission for investigation under the NB Police Act. Mr. Savoy’s resignation resulted in a loss of jurisdiction for the Commission. As a result, the Commission closed the Fredericton Police Force’s conduct complaint.
The criminal investigation was led by Deputy Chief Randy Hansen of the Miramichi Police Force.
“Our investigators approached this file with the same diligence and objectivity applied to any criminal investigation,” said Deputy Chief Randy Hansen.
The Fredericton Police Force wishes to thank Deputy Chief Hansen and the Miramichi Police Force for their work on this file.
M. Savoy is scheduled to appear in court on August 28, 2026.
As the matter is now before the courts, no further details will be released at this time.
