The Fredericton Police Force’s Direct Action Response Team (DART) conducted a targeted enforcement operation on June 1, 2026, aimed at addressing crime and public safety concerns in the downtown area.
The operation resulted in 10 arrests. Officers also executed nine warrants and closed three Repeat Priority Offender files as part of ongoing enforcement efforts.
Offences identified during the operation include:
• Possession of a controlled substance (Controlled Drugs and Substances Act)
• Breach of court-ordered conditions
• Outstanding arrest warrants
• Possession of stolen property
• Flight from police
• Driving while suspended (Motor Vehicle Act)
• Motor Vehicle Act violations
• Liquor Control Act violations
“DART operations are focused on addressing repeat offending and the locations contributing to ongoing criminal activity in our community,” said Det. Al Irvine. “This enforcement work is one part of a broader approach that combines targeted policing, partnerships, and ongoing engagement to support safer neighbourhoods.”
These operations are intelligence-led and focus on high-risk individuals, repeat offenders, and locations associated with criminal activity. They also support training for junior officers while addressing community concerns related to public drug use, petty crime, and street-level disorder in the downtown core, in collaboration with key community partners.
Anyone with information about criminal activity is encouraged to contact the Fredericton Police Force at 506-460-2300 or provide information anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
