The Joint Economic Development Initiative (JEDI), Wolastoqey Tribal Council Inc. (WTCI), and Under One Sky are hosting the annual Indigenous Peoples Day event, taking place Saturday, June 21, from 11am-3pm at Officers' Square.
The annual Indigenous Peoples Day event offers a day of festivities, including vendors, and activities for kids, making it a perfect family day out. Don't miss this opportunity to celebrate and learn about Indigenous culture!
The Indigenous Peoples Day event was established four years ago in response to the discovery of graves of Indigenous children. The event has evolved into a vibrant celebration of Indigenous life. It now showcases and honours Indigenous culture. Indigenous Peoples Day provides opportunity to bring communities together and celebrate the richness of Indigenous cultures. It fosters an inclusive space where non-Indigenous can learn and experience Indigenous arts, and history. This day promotes mutual understanding, respect, and allyship, while acknowledging the ongoing struggles faced by Indigenous communities. By coming together, we can create a more respectful, inclusive society that honors and uplifts Indigenous voices and cultures.
