The Officers’ Square Skating Rink will open just in time for the holiday season.
The new skating rink officially opened Friday, Dec. 22. Over the past few days, City crews have been busy getting the ice ready for residents.
“I am thrilled the new Officers’ Square Rink will be open in time for the winter season,” said Mayor Kate Rogers. “This is a much-loved gathering place for the community, and skaters are eager to get out and take advantage of this wonderful space.”
The new rink will be within the perimeter of Officers’ Square for the use of recreational skating.
For years, the public has expressed a desire for Officers’ Square to be a peopled urban space with the capacity to host special events that help foster a strong sense of community and that bring business into the downtown. A new skating rink will do just that. An official opening of the Officers’ Square Skating Rink will take place in January. Fredericton Tourism will also be hosting a variety of activities at the Officers’ Square Skating Rink during FROSTival in January.
